Moodle

 Moodle Logo

Moodle is our online learning environment that can be accessed on any internet enabled device. With Moodle you can access your course materials anytime, anywhere and make use of a number of other built-in tools to enhance your learning experience whilst studying here at Andover College.

Moodle can bring the dynamics of a classroom environment online as it allows lecturers and students to interact in a ‘virtual classroom’ in much the same way as in a standard classroom. The difference is that it can be done at a time and place that suits you with all the resources of the Internet as support.

At Andover College some Moodle classrooms have been developed as fully interactive classrooms where you may be involved in a range of activities such as online group discussions or collaborative group work. Alternatively, some classrooms might be a place where course material is presented as a structured set of files. It depends on the learning material, your lecturer, and the best way to deliver the course.

With each unit studied here, our students benefit from the increased access to course information, additional learning support and the studying flexibility provided by Moodle.

Mahara

Mahara is an e-porfolio & social networking platform that allows you to create and maintain a digital portfolio of your learning.

Mahara is currently being used at Andover College to support activities such as reflective journal creation, personal and professional development recording, tutoring, progression and employability learning. It is also being used for its social networking and groups features which enable our students to interact and collaborate on group projects.

Mahara includes features such as blogs, CV builder, file manager and web page creator which helps users arrange their content to share with others, e.g. tutors, peers and employers.

Watch this video to see how you could use Mahara during your studies;

Office 365

Office 365 consists of cloud based Office applications plus other applications such as OneDrive cloud storage which can all be accessed on the web or via apps on any internet enabled device. With Office 365 you can create documents, presentations, make notes, check your college emails, store and access your work, upload videos and so much more!

Here are all the applications that are currently available on Office 365... and the list just keeps on growing!

And if that is not enough all students at Andover College get the full version of Microsoft Office ready to install on up to 5 devices for free! This student advantage includes the latest versions of:

WAMedu

WAMedu provides our college with a private social network which we control enabling all our learners, staff and faculties to connect, share and collaborate in a safe and secure environment. WAMedu can be accessed on the web or via a free app on any Windows, Android of Apple mobile device.

It allows staff and learners to create course, social or sport communities via connections, messaging and groups features; helping us to collaborate and stay in touch outside of the classroom and off campus. You can post assignment questions to peers and tutors and you can upload videos, images and files that support discussions or to share as useful class resources.

WAMedu is also used to promote student benefits and for event promotion where you can see who is attending and invite connections.
